Argentina is in the southern hemisphere of America.

The term Argentina comes from the Latin argentum, which means silver. We find its written record in the expression Terra Argentea included in a cartographic piece by the Portuguese Lopo Homen from 1554.

Our country has one of the largest surfaces on Earth, ranking eighth worldwide, fourth in the American continent (after Canada, the United States of America and the Federative Republic of Brazil) and second among the Latin American countries.

According to the National Geographic Institute, the extension of our emerged lands reaches 3,761,274 km2.

We have a population of 45.376.763 people, sixteen inhabitants per km2. Our currency is the peso argentino. Spanish is our official language.
